Editorial policy

These rules govern every buying guide and product brief on BackYardCoopTech. They are designed to keep commercial links from blurring the line between documented fact and editorial judgment.

Sources and claims

We prefer manufacturer product pages, manuals, support documents, and primary technical documentation. Retailer pages are used to verify ASINs, bundles, current product identity, and availability. A manufacturer performance statement is attributed or clearly described as a manufacturer claim.

Product briefs

A product brief may synthesize specifications and evaluate fit without claiming ownership or long-term use. Hands-on language requires a documented test protocol, dates, conditions, and enough detail for readers to understand the limits.

Rankings

Rankings are use-case recommendations. We weigh fit, installation assumptions, power and network requirements, serviceability, safety behavior, documentation quality, and value tier. We do not accept payment for rank placement.

Affiliate links

Commercial links are labeled and use sponsored, nofollow link attributes. As an Amazon Associate, the site may earn from qualifying purchases. Affiliate status does not turn a retailer rating into an editorial rating or justify hiding a product limitation.

Updates

Each commerce guide displays a specification verification date. A materially changed model, ASIN, bundle, safety instruction, warranty, or availability note should trigger an update. Build dates are not presented as editorial update dates.

Corrections

Factual errors are corrected promptly and material changes are recorded on the corrections page. Readers and manufacturers may submit evidence, but the editorial desk decides the wording and ranking independently.
